Interpreting for law and business

On-site and remote business meetings and conferences, factory visits, visits by French delegates to UK organisations, market research focus groups; detailed preparation of all terminology and materials prior to the assignment.

Off-site interpreting by telephone in two- or three-way calls and/or via remote platforms such as video-link, Skype, Zoom, Teams, Kudo, Interprefy. Remote interpreting requires a special set of skills since not all of the parties are in the same location.

Specialised interpreting via video-link and/or on-site in legal venues such as courts, police stations, asylum and imigration tribunals. Also consultations with Solicitors, conferences with Barristers, business meetings where legal issues are involved.

Video-link interpreting platforms are increasingly being used in legal and business settings whereby some or all of the participants are linked up off-site. Remote interpreting is a highly specialised skill due to the lack of face to face contact.

Face-to-face interpreting can be simultaneous, consecutive, or chuchotage (whispered interpreting whilst sitting alongside the client). Interpreting can also be a mix of face-to-face and remote interpreting, depending on the locations of the parties.
